The Maharashtra government has established a committee under the leadership of Development Commissioner (Industries), Directorate of Industries in order to develop a drone hub and manufacturing cluster in Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) in the Aurangabad district.
Inaugurating the 10,000-acre AURIC, the nation’s first greenfield industrial smart city and a component of the future Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor, was Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2019. In the next ten years, AURIC expects to spend globally worth Rs 70,000 crore, creating three lakh employment.
Officials claim that the government accepted a proposal to establish a drone hub and manufacturing cluster at AURIC in Aurangabad from the strategic think group Bramha Research Foundation, Mumbai.
The director of the foundation had requested in the memorandum that a policy be developed for producing security-related equipment in order to establish a special economic zone (SEZ) for the hub and cluster and offer relevant amenities.
According to the official, deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis had a meeting in November 2022 to examine the issue and thereafter form a committee.
Within three months, a thorough report on the subject is required, he stressed.
