Israel Aerospace Industries has unveiled a new small hand-launched loitering missile. The device, dubbed Point Blank, is a small electro-optically guided missile that can be carried in a soldier’s backpack. IAI has been awarded a multi-year, multi-million-dollar contract with the United States Department of Defense to develop a version of the missile for the American market.
The state-owned Israel Aerospace Industries arms business unveiled a new compact hand-launched loitering missile or attack drone that can land back in a soldier’s palm without detonating.
The announcement came shortly after IAI was given a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract by the US Department of Defense to create a missile version specifically for the US market.
The Point Blank device is a tiny electro-optic guided missile that fits within a soldier’s rucksack. A single soldier may launch and control it.

It claimed that the technology has a warhead to obliterate a target and electro-optical systems to verify and gather surveillance data in real-time.
According to IAI, the device may be safely flown back and land in the operator’s hand if they choose not to attack.
IAI released a statement stating that the system “responds to the battlefield necessity to enable tactical units ranging in size from small tactical teams to battalion level, with an independent and organic capability to boost their lethality.”
First prototypes and training will be offered for the Point Blank variation, ROC-X, being developed for the US Department of Defense in the upcoming fiscal year, the business announced.
Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd (IAI) offers aerospace and defence technology for the military and commercial industries. Business jets, combat aircraft, helicopters, radar systems, hydraulic systems, and componentry are all designed, developed, produced, and supplied by the corporation.
