The Always Home Cam is designed to be used as a security camera. It will be able to zoom in and out of your home to look for signs of trouble. It's not yet clear when it will be available, but it's expected to be in 2020. The camera is controlled by a smartphone app.
Ring demonstrated a prototype gadget that it stated will be available in households at some time in the future around the end of 2020. The Always House Cam is a tiny drone meant to monitor your home for burglars while you are away. Now, at CES 2023, the business gave us our first glimpse at the gear in action, albeit it’s still hesitant to commit to a delivery date or a price.
The entire equipment resembles a kitchen countertop device, such as a smart bread container, rather than a security drone. It’s a touch bigger than it seems in Ring’s early demo videos, but not by much, and while it doesn’t look like any other drone on the market, it sure sounds like one. If you’ve ever irritated a pet with a toy small drone, you can expect an equally irritated animal anytime this contraption goes on patrol.
Ring Home Drone
When it finally made its appearance, Ring’s crew did describe how it would function, such as how it will cover one level — ideally the bottom floor — in your home. You’ll train it by holding it (without obstructing the camera) and walking in a number of flightpaths around your house. You can specify numerous courses and separate waypoints, so you can check the back door or leave the stove on without having to wait too long.
If you notice something suspicious, you may also set the camera to halt in mid-air and revolve around to monitor the surrounding area. And there won’t be a separate app for operating the drone; it’ll all be integrated into Ring’s existing app, at least when we see it in action. Unfortunately, Ring isn’t yet ready to discuss its opinions on the subject, but the fact that it’s ready to show off prototypes suggests that it’s closer to sale than not.
